At the end of June (2017), Matt’s mom drove out from Michigan to California to help us move across the country. In the days leading up to the move, we spent as much time with friends and family as possible, and many came over to help us fit all of our material possessions into her minivan.
Our studio apartment in Oakland, California was tiny (somewhere around 400 sq. feet… including the bathroom and kitchen!) which really helped keep us from accumulating too much stuff. We gifted or donated or sold the bigger items. The day we moved out rent went up like $500 a month for the next renters — I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to afford to move back.
Anyway… this post is about the drive. I think I’ll do a separate post about our adorable apartment.
