On March 1st, 2013 eleven of us flew in from California, Washington DC, and New York. We took the earliest flights, hoping to be on the beach by noon. Although she didn’t know it, Puj was getting engaged; Matty had spent the weeks leading up to the trip planning every detail and we had successfully kept it a surprise (from Puj at least). Some of us hadn’t seen each other in over a year and the reunion was joyous.
Puj and Matty had plans to go parasailing (a gift left over from Valentine’s Day) so after a quick bite to eat two of us dropped them off at the parasailing place while the rest went “food shopping”. After Puj and Matty departed on their boat, Drew and I met up with the rest of the group on the beach and we waited…
Puj had no idea (well, maybe she did)… but we knew. 😉
Holding the sign with Puj and Matty parasailing in the background! They are the green dot directly above the P.
To pass the time we played tag and tried not to freak out.
Initially we were all holding the sign up above our heads and jumping up and down from excitement. But when we saw Matty go down on one knee we all just melted…
I’m assuming she is shouting YES YES YES!!!! After their boat headed for the dock, we walked back to meet them and celebrate!
The day before I left to meet up with these guys another best friend sent me the song “I won’t give up” by Jason Mraz. I teared up just thinking about the two of them while I listened to it on repeat as I packed… I’ll post just the last few lines here. Puj & Matty, I love you. Thank you for sharing this magical moment with me.
Well, I won’t give up on us (no I’m not giving up)
God knows I’m tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)
We’ve got a lot to learn (we’re alive, we are loved)
God knows we’re worth it (and we’re worth it)
I won’t give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I’m giving you all my love 0
